Eternal Jesus, at Thy Word

1Eternal Jesus, at Thy word
We gather round this table, Lord;
Here let Thy faithful people see
The tokens of Thy love to me.

2We eat this bread and drink this wine,
But oh, we think not on the sign,
But on the thing signified,
The body of our Savior Christ.

3Oh, may we ever bear in mind
The love of Christ for all mankind,
Who gave His life upon the tree
To set the guilty sinner free.

4Help us, dear Savior, Thee to praise
For Thy great love through all our days,
And when this life of ours shall end,
May we in glory meet our Friend.
