Kingdom of God

1Thy kingdom come! thus, day by
day
We lift our hands to God and pray;
But who has ever duly weighed
The meaning of the words he said?

2Thy kingdom come! O day of joy,
When praise shall every tongue em-
ploy;
When hatred, strife and battles cease
And man with man shall be at peace.

3Then bears and wolves, no longer
wild,
Obey the leading of a child;
The lions with the oxen eat,
And dust shall be the serpent's meat

4Then all shall know and serve the
Lord,
And walk according to his word;
His glory spread around shall be,
As waters cover o'er the sea.

5God's holy will shall then be done
By all who live beneath the sun;
And every evil will remove,
For God will reign, and "God is love."
