Ah! guilty sinner, ruined by transgression

Studio

1Ah! guilty sinner, ruined by transgression, What will thy doom be when arrayed in terror
God shall command thee, covered with pollution, "Up to the judgment, up to the judgment!"

2Oft he has called thee, but thou wouldst not hear him;
Mercies and judgments have alike been slighted;
Yet with arms unfolded Waits to embrace you.

3But if you trifle with his gracious message, Cleave to the world, and live for guilty pleasures,
Mercy, grown weary, will in righteous judgment Leave you forever.

4Then you shall call, but he will not regard you;
Seek for his favor, yet will never find it;
Cry to the rocks to hide you from his presence Deep in their caverns.

5O! guilty sinner, hear the voice of warning;
Fly to the Saviour, and embrace thy pardon;
So shall you meet him, and with joy triumphant, Coming to judgment.
