Holy Sabbath, sacred rest

1Holy Sabbath, sacred rest,
Welcome to each weary breast;
Cheering hour that points away
To eternity's bright day.

2Ever since creation's birth,
Thou hast been to cheer the earth;
When the course of time began,
Thou wast made, and made for man.

3While thou bring'st peaceful rest,
Man by thee is doubly blest;
Thou dost raise our thoughts to raise
To our great Creator's praise.

4Thus drawn nearer to our Lord,
Hearts attained to sweet accord,
We shall hail the glorious day
When all flesh shall own his sway.
