THAT awful day will surely come
THAT awful day will surely come— Th' appointed hour makes haste— When I must stand before my Judge, And pass the solemn test.
Jesus, thou source of all my joys, Thou ruler of my heart, How could I bear to hear thy voice Pronounce the word, Depart!
What! I to be banished from my Lord, To rocks and mountains cry! And bid the hills conceal my grief, And hide me from his eye.
Oh! if I wretched state of deep despair, By angels' doom to dwell, And lie most doleful station where Devils and darkness dwell.
